Adolescents
Therapy for Teens
Adolescence can be challenging for some people. Parents may find that they are ill-equipped to deal with the stressors of parenting, and they don’t know how to navigate the difficulties their teen is going through (in their personal lives, school, sports, etc.).
That’s why it is essential to consider the help a psychotherapist can provide.
Here are some of the common issues seen in teenagers:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Peer Relationships
- Behavioral Issues
- School Issues
- Career Counseling
- Sexual Identity
- Self-harming Behaviors
In our office, we use techniques from different theoretical views for teens, such as art therapy, play therapy, psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). We value confidentiality and strive to create a safe environment where teens can share their inner thoughts, ask difficult questions, and explore themes of anxiety, depression, friendships, relationships, and sexuality.
Additionally, parents will sometimes be part of therapy, as we value their participation and the importance of adult modeling of healthy behaviors in supporting their teens’ development.
