Play therapy helps the child create a warm, trusting relationship with the therapist, where life situations can be “played” in sessions. We have treated children with behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, and children from split or unconventional families. Parents’ participation in therapy is welcomed and sometimes required.
We use techniques from different theoretical views for teens, such as art therapy, play therapy, psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). We value confidentiality, and want teens to feel safe to share their inner thoughts, ask difficult questions and explore themes of anxiety, depression, friendship, relationship, sex, etc. Parents will sometimes be part of therapy, as we value parents’ participation and adult modeling of behaviors.
