• Mr. Andreas Balasis, LCSW

Tampa Therapy Group Balasis Mr. Andreas Balasis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to providing meaningful, impactful, and long-lasting therapeutic change.

Through a non-judgmental and mindfulness oriented approach, he strives to assist young adults and professionals in lessening the loads that life can bring. Regardless of the circumstances, responsibilities, or expectations we are confronted by, he is a firm believer that we are all capable of overcoming obstacles and dictating our own futures.

Despite where we once were, and despite the struggles we may currently be facing, there are ways to begin constructing lives worth living moving forward. By utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a “third wave” cognitive-behavioral therapy, we will aim to enhance what is known as “psychological flexibility.” We will work towards embracing even the most difficult of situations.

We will identify what is most burdensome to deal with, and implement strategies to best manage the thoughts and feelings that may make us feel most out of control. By attuning to the present moment, and seeing ourselves as greater than the sum of our experiences, we will be better able to identify the values we hold most dear, and take committed action towards embodying them, day-in and day-out.

Originally from Long Island, New York, he began his journey as a therapist at Florida State University, receiving his Bachelors in Social Work, graduating Summa Cum Laude. After graduating with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, he decided that Florida would be the place for him to continue pursuing his passion of psychotherapy.

Through working with adolescents in a middle school, working with patients and families in an inpatient psychiatric setting, and throughout the past two years of working in an outpatient therapy setting, he has gained the skills necessary to help people help themselves to overcome concerning patterns of thought and behavior, in pursuit of more open, centered, and engaged lives.
